So, this is us...... Kerry, Martin and our timber framed traditional farm shop that sits unassumingly on 1.6 acres of land just a stones throw from the beautiful Suffolk Heritage Coast and two minutes off of the A12 in Benhall.
A farm shop has been located on the site for the past 30 years and sadly until we purchased the business in Spring 2019 had become somewhat neglected and forgotten. We have already begun transforming this tired and unproductive site in to what you see today.
Back in 2007, Matthew Fort, journalist for The Guardian summed us up perfectly " Take the Railway Farm Market Garden & Farm Shop at Benhall, near Saxmundham. You know that the beetroots, carrots, leeks, cabbages, parsnips and swedes are local because they're growing on the land beside the shop."
We're not for everyone. There's no smoked glass, brushed aluminium or air conditioning as we operate off-grid relying on solar power, recycled water and roll your sleeves up hard work, determination and passion.
Our focus is providing fresh, home and locally grown vegetables at an affordable price with good old fashioned customer service and a smile. We also supply eggs from our hens that you'll find roaming the car park, honey from our bees and a selection of other Suffolk produce and a few store cupboard basics.
We are on a mission to educate people to think about where their food has come from and to challenge them to eat seasonal food they wouldn't ordinarily try. Our weekly veg box scheme is testament to this.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank those that have supported us so far and invite you all to join us on our continued adventures.
